Light in this Tunnel

Last night my MIL was on a rampage. I was (emotionally) sick all day so I stayed in my room. When The Man got home it was a little late. He prepared dinner but then announced to my MIL that he had to make a phone call and she could go ahead and eat. To this she responded that she didn't like to eat alone. So The Man suggested that she could wait for him to finish his phone conversation.

When he returned The Man instantly knew that my MIL was UNHAPPY. She proceeded to ream into him about "you did this" and "you did that" and "you moved me here so you could give HER [me] my [MIL's] THINGS" (?) and so on. After a while The Man got tired of listening to her and announced that he was going to bed.

My MIL did not go to bed. She spent the next 3 hours or so pulling her room apart. We recently purchased a bookcase that would fit into her room so that she could have her precious books (that she can't even read anymore because she's mostly blind) in the same room where she spend most of her time instead of having them in the huge bookcase in the living room. Last night she took every single book out of this 72" x 36" bookcase and spread them all over her bedroom floor. She also stomped around the ground floor removing art from the walls and leaving that all over her bedroom floor. She did all this while grumbling to herself about how we (but mostly me) have stolen all her "things." I honestly have no idea why she would pull all the books out the bookcase and put them all over the floor. Misdirected spite?

So, since we knew she was in such a snit, we weren't sure if she would still be in one today. One the way home from work, I predicted that she would have removed all the wood sculptures from the display cases (about 18 cubic feet of space) in the living room and stash them all in her bedroom (most likely on the floor and on the dresser). Damned if I wasn't right!

There's a long story I could tell you about a "life care" facility in NJ where we considered placing her but there were a lot of factors that weren't quite right about the situation so we scrapped the idea. That was about 2 weeks ago. Today we are reconsidering the facility despite the less than ideal conditions. If we decide to move her there (and at this point I can’t deal with the current situation and don’t care where she goes as long as it's not my house), she will be placed by the end of June.
