Disposable Pets

BIL the Elder is trying to pawn off kittens to us. He has 2 adult indoor cats (I repeat, INDOOR); one male and one female. In the last couple of years these cats have spawned at least 3 litters. I don't know why he's allowing the cats to breed instead of having them fixed. They aren't fancy show cats or anything, just regular old domestic short hair. The Man got an email from BIL the Elder asking (for the second time) if we wanted any kittens. I'm against taking any for a number of reasons, among them is that I feel like if I take any then it is sort of like we are complicit with whole not getting your cat fixed thing. Also, if I want more cats I feel like I should adopt some locally. The other thing that pisses me off has to do with something I wrote about here (entry called "I Hate My In-Laws"). So, anyway, in this email yesterday, BIL the Elder said, "[The kittens] will be disposed of somehow thru the local shelters but we
have no takers." Yes, he used the phrase "disposed of" when referring to these kittens. I'm sure it was in an effort to make us feel bad and guilty and want to "save" these kittens. Fucking asshole.
