Jack O Lanterns

The Keene Pumpkin Festival is this weekend. I haven't gone since we moved here and I probably won't be going this year. From what I understand it's pretty but the crowds are maddening. Completed Scaffold

Skin Care

My MIL's new thing is that our water is "gritty." She's told us that there is "grit" on her clothes and hands and under her fingernails and in her hair when she washes it. This "grit" makes her itchy. We're pretty sure that she's just experiencing dry (winter) skin but interprets it as "grit." I'm not sure we will be able to get her to moisturize her skin; it's not something she's ever done for herself (unlike me who exfoliates and moisturizes every day). A while ago I went and bought her some Oil of Olay facial moisturizer because she was complaining of "dry patches" of skin on her face. When I gave it to her and told her what is was and what it was for she said, "Oh, good. OK, so I put this on my skin then I wipe off the excess, right?" I had to explain to her that no, you put a sparing amount on your face and leave it there to let your skin absorb it. I think what she was describing was how one uses cold cream. Does anyone use cold cream anymore?
